On June 25, 2026, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced a new leadership team in Uttar Pradesh, highlighting its focus on engaging Other Backward Classes (OBCs).

Neeraj Singh, the son of Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, has been appointed as one of the vice-presidents. Alongside him, Puja Pal, a former MLA from the Samajwadi Party, has also been named vice-president.

This strategic reshuffle is seen as an effort by the BJP to bolster its outreach and support among OBC voters in the region.
